So, it looks like I'm getting another roommate.
My mom has been working for Long John Silvers as a shift manager for the past few years. She's been making 7.75 while regular employees have been making 7/hr. The new minimum wage changes are taking effect, so everyone gets raises. The regular employees will be making 8/hr.
So will Mom.
Another shift manager, who doesn't pull her weight, will be making 8.25/hr.
So Mom's pissed. She says she's done. She asked a few weeks ago how much it would cost to rent my couch, and I told her a penny a night. I thought she was joking. No, Mom called a bit ago and said she's moving in. There's nothing else in the area where she lives. Southern Illinois has a very high unemployment rate, and the jobs that are available are ones that she doesn't want. Moving in with me gives her the benefit of a place to stay that's with family and near family (cousins in the area), and not anywhere near her siblings. She loves her siblings, but if she lives near them, she'll get drawn into that lovely family drama.
So Mom gets a couch, we get a housekeeper who does everything but dust. lol And no, she's not displacing the current roommate, who lives in our spare room
